A classic audiophile record, Steely Dan’s Aja (along with many of their other albums) is often used as the gold standard to test the quality of hi-fi audio equipment. It’s no surprise the album won the grammy for best engineered album in 1977. We’d listen to Aja on just about any system though, and were actually reminded to put this up in the collection after hearing “Peg” on a pair of basic PA’s at an outdoor wedding… Real magic captured in the studio with some of the best musicians to ever do it including Bernard “Pretty” Purdie, Chuck Rainey, Wayne Shorter, Joe Sample, Michael McDonald, and many others, the album is an essential listen and will surely be enjoyed by new generations of music lovers for many decades to come.
