A must-have for fans of the David Mancuso Loft staple “Rude Movements”, Raw Movements / Rude Movements presents previously unreleased demos from UK duo Sun Palace. Compiled by Flavia Lamprecht and Massimo Di Lena for BBE, this set of cosmically oriented dance tunes leads with snappy CR-78 rhythms that are juxtaposed with organic guitars and melodic bass lines. It’s a fascinating look into the artistic practice of Mike Collins and Keith O’Connell with tracks like “What’s the Time” demonstrating how the duo used a similar blueprint as the title tracks but experimented with different tempos to completely alter the mood. “Coral Reef” is one track that breaks the mold completely, and it almost defies logic with it’s perfect balance of hip-hop, jazz, funk.
