Tase – S.T.

Tase is a hardware electronic project by Berlin-based artists Takashi Wada and Sven Rieger, 1/2 of Acido Records’ Dresvn and founder of SUED Records. Recorded on a 16-track tape machine using vintage synthesizers, groove boxes, and bass guitar, the duo’s sound is warm but also trippy and psychedelic. Each electronic element is crafted with a delicate, human touch making the repetitive looping rhythms move and come alive. Takashi Wada’s mysterious, often incomprehensible vocals are exceptional and really take these hardware jams to another place. The futurism of Detroit techno, playfulness of Sex Tags Mania, and trance-inducing bleeps of minimal house are all here, but Tase’s sound is fully their own.  Like many of our favorite albums, this one is highly recommended listening for both home and the dance floor.
