Th Blisks – Elixa

Th Blisks are an Australian underground supergroup featuring Newcastle duo Troth (Amelia Besseny + Altered States head Cooper Bowman) and Sydney-based Japanese punk rocker Yuta Matsumura (Low Life / Oily Boys). Elixa follows up the group’s long sold out and cult favorite debut 2022 How So? with a more dub-infused mutant post-punk offering featuring melodica, trip-hop breakbeats, and heavily spring reverb’d atmospheres. “Enchancity” opens the record blissfully with a nostalgic ’90s lead and breakbeat, while “No Know” hits on a much colder note eerily trodding along a sludgy drum groove and cavernous synth bass. “Esk” recalls ’80s Australian indie rock favorites with its jangly guitar. Highly recommended for fans of On-U Sound, Bowery Electric, Cat’s Miaow, Hydroplane, and Tara Clerkin Trio.
