Yen Records was a sub-label of Alfa Recordings launched essentially as a home for YMO’s Haruomi Hosono and Yukihiro Takahashi’s production projects. This commemorative compilation features remix versions of classic tracks on the label including Testpattern’s “Modern Living” and Tamao Koike’s “鏡の中の十月.” We believe there’s something to do with death here as well… Perhaps the release was compiled to commemorate the passing of someone close to the label? Opener “God Be With You Till We Meet Again” certainly points to some sort of passing.
