Third Side Music Signs Jazz Legend Pharoah Sanders
Third Side Music has announced their signing of tenor sax legend Pharoah Sanders to a worldwide deal.
Some more incredible Pharoah Sanders news… Following the release of his first album in over fifteen years, jazz titan Pharoah Sanders has signed a deal with Third Side Music. Sanders joins a roster that includes Beverly Glenn Copeland, BADBADNOTGOOD, Flying Lotus, Kurt Vile, The Cinematic Orchestra, and more. The new deal encompasses Sanders’ entire back catalog and any projects going forward.
“Pharoah was one of my first entry points into jazz, and certainly the one that really pulled me in deep all those years ago,” says Jeff Waye, Co-Founder/COO, Third Side Music. “I mean hundreds of listens to records like Izipho Zam, Karma, Africa, Village Of The Pharoahs (all of them really) later and they still floor me in the same way as the first time. In a music publishing landscape that has seen so many legacy and legendary artists call it a day and sell, I am absolutely honored that Pharoah Sanders is entrusting us with taking on his catalog so that we can put some new, real value into these works, and line up fresh avenues of opportunities and collaborations. Bring on Pharoah’s well deserved Octogenarian victory lap!”
“We are delighted to be working with Third Side Music — a company that is full of passionate and knowledgeable leaders in the industry,” shares Anna M. Sala, Manager for Pharoah Sanders. “We look forward to Pharoah’s important catalogue guiding, healing, rejuvenating and sparking creativity in others, especially now, as we begin to climb out of dark times”
“I speak with my horn,” states Pharoah Sanders, who truly needs nothing more than his instrument to convey an encyclopedia of experiences and emotions.
We hope this means a few albums in Pharoah’s back catalog might finally get some proper reissues… Listen to Floating Points, Pharoah Sanders & The London Symphony Orchestra’s new album Promises below:
