Formed in 1976 by the great drummer Norman Connors, Aquarian Dream brought together a collective of talented musicians who effortlessly blended soul, funk, jazz, and disco to create an undeniably captivating sound. On their second album Fantasy, the group underwent some notable changes including Sylvia Striplin as the new lead singer replacing Gloria Jones, Dave Worthy on percussion, and Gary Bartz on soprano saxophone. The album opens with the upbeat and energetic “You’re a Star,” which immediately sets the tone for the album. The song’s vibrant horn section, tight rhythm section, and soulful vocals establish a sense of excitement and anticipation that carries throughout the record. Despite the band’s association with Norman Connors, they were unable to achieve significant commercial success and broke up in 1979. – Ally
