Pedro Santos – Krishnanda

Azimuth (not to be confused with Brazilian legends Azymuth) were an English jazz trio consisting of trumpeter Kenny Wheeler, vocalist Norma Winstone, and Winstone’s husband, pianist John Taylor. All of their records were released on Manfred Eicher’s ECM Records, and they’re also all good! On their third outing, the trio is joined by fellow ECM stalwart Ralph Towner, who brings his gorgeous 12-string guitar into the group’s pensive, ambient jazz sound. As usual, Norma Winstone’s airy vocals soar like angels drawing “an arc through countless heavenly bodies before intersecting with the enchanted listener.”
