An interesting one to be listening to now that it’s firmly Fall, but there’s no wrong time for balearic music right? On the Beach is a yacht rock classic by the underrated English singer songwriter Chris Rea. The beach that Rea sings about here is in Formentera, an island off the coast of Spain. “That’s where me and my wife became me and my wife… Yeah, I was ‘between the eyes of love.’ It’s a lovely island.” The title track is classic Rea… relaxing yet quietly emotional, full of melancholy and nostalgia. A summer (all-time) classic!
