Gene Clark – White Light

A wild fusion of genres (classical, blues, rock, jazz, comedy) in classic Zappa style, One Size Fits All opens with the wonderfully complex “Inca Roads” which features George Duke on vocals and synthesizers. The strange talking bits in the tune might be a turn-off for some listeners, but it’s crucial to listen to Zappa songs as compositions rather than “tunes,” if that makes sense. The theatric twists and turns are closer to a symphony or play than a ballad or jazz standard and serve to paint a much deeper musical story. The track also features one of Zappa’s most beautiful guitar solos. Check this incredible live performance and you’ll be sure to at least appreciate the insane musicality of Zappa and his Mothers Of Invention.
