Fuchs-Goos-Band – Chameleon 2
Featured in the “Organic” section of Chee Shimizu’s Obscure Sound disc guide, Chameleon 2 is the lone release by Fuchs-Goos-Band (formerly known as Chameleon), a German jazz-rock group led by drummer Joachim Fuchs-Charrier and guitarist Werner Goos. The group’s sound is light and quite beautiful for a jazz-rock group with clean chorus favored over distortion and an acoustic tendency in some sections like the gorgeous A3 “Song For A Lady,” which features a chamber-style arrangement comprised of acoustic guitar, flute, and piano. B1 “Zyklus One” is another highlight where Goos’ delicate, phasing guitar lays the foundation for soprano saxophone and a solo section that reminds us a bit of John Abercrombie’s ECM masterpiece Timeless.
