Jeannie Reynolds was the sister of L.J. Reynolds, a member of The Dramatics. Though her career wasn’t as significant in comparison to her brother’s, Jeannie made some truly exceptional music. Her album Cherries, Bananas & Other Fine Things is everything you’d want in a soul record. Track A1 “The Fruit Song” is full of seductive innuendos and starts off strong with a killer opening breakbeat that flows into vocals that will make you melt. I recommend a full listen through this album because Jeannie has the power to sound like a different singer on every track. A true soul chameleon, her story had a particularly sad ending as she struggled with mental health and a drug problem that led her to kill her two children and then herself in 1980. – Ally
