Los Angeles native Micheal Wycoff started his musical journey at just three years old playing piano at home and the church close by. Hearing Donny Hathaway’s voice inspired Wycoff to start singing in his church choir, and you can hear that influence throughout his career. Before releasing solo music, Wycoff sang background vocals on Stevie Wonder’s Songs In The Key Of Life in 1976. While his albums were never top sellers, Love Conquers All is a cult classic and sample favorite that includes the amazing opener “Still Got The Magic,” which was played at the Paradise Garage. Produced by the great Webster Lewis, the album has a perfect mix of ballads and dance songs to keep you hooked including A4 “Can We Be Friends,” a duet with the magnificent Evelyn “Champagne” King. A2 “Looking Up to You” would later be sampled on the 1994 major hit “Hey Mr. DJ” by Philly R&B duo Zhane, further propelling the album’s cult status. – Ally
