Liliental – S.T.
Liliental was a krautrock supergroup that included Dieter Moebius from Cluster, top engineer Conny Plank, Kraan musicians: Johannes Pappert and Helmut Hattler, and a couple of free radicals: Asmus Tietchens and Okko Bekker. Their lone album on Brain is a cloudy, ambient krautrock masterpiece featuring synth, sax, sparse percussion, wordless vocals, chiming guitar, and chirping birds. Conny Plank’s magic touch is clearly present here with the electronic instruments blending beautifully with the organic sounds crafting ethereal and otherworldly soundscapes that are immediately transportive. All the tracks are great, but B2 “Gebremster Schaum” is especially beautiful with its perfectly unhurried pace, simple two chord progression, and gentle ARP synthesizer.
