Marc Barreca – Twilight
Released on K. Leimer’s Palace of Lights, Marc Barreca’s debut album Twilight is a collection of improvised ambient compositions using techniques and methodologies pioneered by Brian Eno on his early ambient works. While certainly inspired, Barreca crafted his own singular world using acoustic and electronic instruments to create soundscapes that sound surprisingly close to nature (Fish Culture, School For Whales) as well as futuristic electronics that seem to predict the cold, industrial futures shown in sci-fi films like Metropolis and Bladerunner (Oleo Strut, Industrial Landscape). Also, don’t miss RVNG / Freedom to Spend’s 2017 reissue of Barreca’s Music Works for Industry. Recommended for fans of Harold Budd, Jon Hassell, Cluster, Roedelius.
