Shirley Scott – One for Me

New Age flute and saxophone player Paul Horn goes soul/fusion jazz-funk with a collection of choice covers of some of the best Stevie Wonder, David Crosby, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, and David Batteau tunes. The album was produced by unsung music hero Henry Lewy, who worked closely with Joni Mitchell on 13 albums and also produced ISC favorites Heart Food by Judee Sill and Batteaux by the Batteau brothers. Read more about Lewy here. The entire album is pretty great from start to finish with Horn never going too heavy into New Age, avant-garde, or shred flute jazz territories. Personal favorites include the Innervisions cut “Visions,” CSN classic “Guinnevere” and breezy Batteaux “High Tide.”
