Scott Fraser – Architecture
The lone solo LP from guitarist / electro-acoustic composer, producer, and mastering engineer Scott Fraser, Architecture contains an endearing mix of chamber music, bird sounds, santur, experimental electronics, voice recordings, ambient synths, and folk guitar. It’s a peculiar portrait of an artist who has worked in many realms of sound across genres with The Residents, John Cage, Kronos Quartet, Daniel Lentz, and more. All the tracks are interesting, though we’d like to point out B6 “Communiqué,” in particular, which features Fraser’s gorgeous bottleneck guitar playing along with a long voice recording of what seems to be a father or friend reaching out to someone who has left town.
