Shackleton – The Scandal Of Time

2023 was a big year for UK bass music veteran Shackleton. The Skull Disco co-founder released three albums including collaborations with Japanese experimentalist Scotch Rolex and Polish jazz clarinetist Wacław Zimpel. The Scandal Of Time, Shackleton’s lone solo release of the year, is a deep set of avant-garde bass music featuring vocals from Anna Gerth. Twisted non-Western rhythms meet German folk songs, modern classical instrumentation, and sampled voices with the usual bass-heavy, trance-inducing production we’ve come to know and love from Shackleton. Anna Gerth’s shadowy vocals hit straight on with little processing providing the perfect foil for Shackleton’s tripped-out production. Highly recommended for bass heads!
