Simone Bittencourt de Oliveira, better known as just Simone, is one of the most popular Brazilian MPB singers of all time. She sold more records than any other artist in the 80’s and was also the first female singer to fill the Maracanãzinho Stadium, which holds 25,000 people. Simone’s repertoire impressively contains over 350 interpretations of classic Brazilian love songs and this album features one of our absolute favorites. The title track “Amar” is an ethereal love ballad written by Brazilian legend Milton Nascimiento. There’s a unique power as well as fragility to Simone’s vocal delivery here that makes for an absolute timeless tune.
