Colin Broster – The Compromise

Released in late 1987, Wendy and Lisa is the debut album by guitarist Wendy Melvoin and keyboard player Lisa Coleman after Prince dissolved his beloved band, the Revolution. Unlike previous Prince groups, the Revolution wasn’t just a backing band; the members were all integral to the creative process, especially Wendy and Lisa, who co-wrote many of the tracks. The duo’s songwriting and composition talents are on full display on their self-titled debut with songs exploring nuanced emotions and thought-provoking imagery, while also expanding on Prince’s sound with elegant ’80s production and breathtaking instrumental performances. “This album proves that not only can they stand on their own two feet, but also how very important they have been in Prince’s Revolution.”
