Promises: Chapter I, a non-visual experience, has been announced for 11AM PT on Sunday, March 21.
Five years in the making, Promises is a historic collaboration between electronic musician and composer Floating Points and spiritual jazz legend Pharoah Sanders that will be released March 26 on Luaka Bop. Founded by David Byrne, Luaka Bop has released seminal archival works from William Onyeabor, Tim Maia, Doug Hream Blunt, and Alice Coltrane.
Promises was recorded by Floating Points and Sanders together in Los Angeles. It is the first new album from Sanders in fifteen years and also features the London Symphony Orchestra, recorded at Air Studios in London, and artwork by the acclaimed artist Julie Mehretu, who has an exhibit opening at The Whitney, New York on March 25.
Promises: Chapter I, a non-visual experience, has been announced for Sunday, March 21, at 2PM ET / 11AM PT.
From Luaka Bop: “On Sunday, we encourage you to allow yourself to be immersed in the broadcast to enjoy the experience fully. You may want to venture into nature (but not so far that you lose cell service), or, prepare for a deep listening experience at your home. If COVID safety permits where you live, perhaps you may want to gather with people who are important to you.”
