Natty Christmas: A Reggae Xmas Playlist

You might’ve noticed from our collection entries that we’ve been in a bit of a reggae mood these past few months at In Sheep’s Clothing. Albums like East of the River Nile, Lifetones, and Motion have all been in heavy rotation during our lockdown listening hours. We’re not exactly sure what it is, but perhaps it’s the laid back grooves, the joyful and spiritual sound, or the reminder of sound systems and dancing, that makes reggae the perfect sound for lockdown.
So, of course, we’ll keep the reggae mood going for the holidays…
Christmas music is big in Jamaica. Just like with pop in America, pretty much every big reggae artist has a Christmas song or album. Bob Marley, Lee Scratch Perry, Gregory Isaacs, Sugar Minott; you name it, they’ve done a Christmas tune or two. As with Christmas music in general, a lot of it can sound a bit cheesy or forced, but there’s a ton of good stuff as well. We’ve compiled a few of our favorites in the playlist below.
Happy Holidays from your friends at In Sheep’s Clothing!
