Junior Delahaye – Showcase

One of the earliest On-U Sound bands along with New Age Steppers, London Underground was short-lived but a crucial stepping stone in the development of the label’s iconic post-punk meets dub sound. Much like The Mothmen and Mark Stewart and The Maffia, London Underground leaned more towards punk than dub and although the group was certainly not as experimental as their contemporaries, there’s still a certain charm to their sound. Vocalist Pete Holdsworth would later team up with Sherwood to form the now highly respected reggae reissue label Pressure Sounds. Interestingly, London Underground has been left off the recent run of On-U reissues because Pete Holdsworth “is not impressed with LU’s recordings.”
