After the success of their first LP, The Tony Allen Experiments, in which Berlin based Nu Guinea reworked Afrobeat god Allen’s percussion into their own cosmic synth funk, the duo dive into the rich history of dance music in their native Naples. In the 70’s and 80’s Neopolitan artists such as Tullio De Piscopo and Pino D’Angiò infused elements of jazz, funk, disco and African rhythms to create a sound all their own. Nuovo Napoli both pays tribute to this sound and looks forward with a bevy of guests from the Neopolitan music scene and vocals in the local dialect. Infectious and danceable every moment, Nuovo Napoli is an instant future classic suitable for both at home listening and on the dance floor.
